About us

The European School of Trieste equips children with the tools and knowledge to thrive and succeed. Located in the picturesque Castelletto of Villa Geiringer, overlooking the city of Trieste, the European School of Trieste (EST) provides an extensive English program that covers the Nursery, Primary, and Middle School years.

Established in 1980, the school was founded to meet the needs of families seeking an Anglo-Saxon school model for their children, while also desiring to maintain their connection to the Italian cultural environment in which they reside.

As a state-recognized private school under Law 62/2000, the European School of Trieste is subject to regulation by the Ministry of Education. This ensures that our students have access to any Italian public school without the need for an admission exam. The Paritarian Comprehensive Institute European School of Trieste is a Public School under private management.

In 1995, a Crèche I Cuccioli of Villa Geiringer was also added to the south of the school’s main area.

I nostri punti di forza

La nostra storia

Artistry Within the School

The refectory halls have been adorned by the painter and art teacher Tullia Cubani. The first hall depicts a forest setting with seagulls soaring in the sky above. The two innermost halls are decorated with the theme of the Opcina tram.
The style evokes a childlike perspective, though not cartoonish, leaning towards a more Cubist influence. Passing under the lintel, reminiscent of the castle that houses the school, visitors are greeted by a portrayal of the statue that presides over the school's rooftop.

The design and colour study process for the spaces of the various school locations, from the nursery to the middle school, spanned about 10 years. At each stage, the specific age group was considered, and a different colour scheme was applied accordingly.
For the Crèche, we created a welcoming and embracing environment where colour predominates in vast areas, using serene, cheerful, and varying intensities depending on the function of each area.
In the Preschool, we introduced whimsical elements such as kites, soap bubbles, and clouds, which freely float on the walls, suggesting a dynamic and playful ambience.
At the Elementary School, colourful ribbons wind along the corridor, converging to form the vibrant hues of a rainbow, infusing the space with movement and joy. Within the classrooms, educational elements are showcased on the walls, always in a playful manner.
Moving on to the Middle School, some walls feature a monochromatic palette that harmonizes with the existing layout and complements the architecture of the Castelletto. Additionally, quotes from notable figures adorn the walls, adding evocative meanings and thought-provoking content.
All of this was always conceived in dialogue and collaboration with the teachers, aiming to create an ideal condition in line with the school's objectives; a journey that has always been very interesting, constructive, and joyful.

The activity I carry out involves creating objects of various kinds, allowing the student's imagination to run free, developing their visual, tactile, and auditory skills, and acquiring technical skills in the use of tools and materials. I work mainly with children aged 4 to 13, trying to identify their tastes and aptitudes.
The objects produced have been exhibited in various exhibition and sales venues. They are currently on display at an exhibition at MiniMu, the Children's Museum located in San Giovanni Park in Trieste.
